Westridge Terminal - What do you think about the selected study corridor (route)?

    CLOSED: This discussion has concluded."

From the Burnaby Terminal (Shellmont & Underhill) to the Westridge Marine Terminal (Bayview Drive), we believe a reroute for the study corridor is the best option for these reasons:

    • Route options are significantly restricted due to urban growth
    • Proposed study corridors reduce impact to residential areas

One corridor alternative continues west along Burnaby Mountain Parkway to Hastings Street, across Inlet Drive and then parallel to Cliff Avenue (west of the roadway) to the Westridge Terminal.

The second corridor alternative turns north along a disused part of Burnwood Avenue within Burnaby Mountain Park, and would then use Horizontal Directional Drilling to eliminate surface disturbance within Burnaby Mountain Park, to connect to Westridge Marine Terminal (see your community map or watch this video to see the details of the two alternatives).

From North Road to Burnaby Terminal (Shellmont & Underhill), we believe a reroute for the study corridor is the best option for these reasons:

    • Route options are significantly restricted due to urban growth
    • Proposed study corridors reduce impact to residential areas
    • Stoney Creek can be protected through Horizontally Directional Drilling

One corridor alternative follows Lougheed Highway from North Road to Underhill Drive, where it turns north along Underhill Drive to the Burnaby Terminal.

The second corridor alternative follows the CN corridor from North Road, west under Highway #1, and then runs along an abandoned Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) right-of-way, currently used as a multi-use trail. The corridor alternative then travels along Gaglardi Way to rejoin the BNSF right-of-way running west along Eastlake Drive, to Underhill Drive and then north to Burnaby Terminal (see your community map or watch this video to see the details of the two alternatives).
